During the Civil War years of the 1860’s the Seventh Day Adventists opened the original Western Health Reform Institute in Battle Creek, Michigan. This religious group was keenly interested in healthy living and undertook some of the earliest research on the benefits of foodstuffs naturally derived from Native American crops. The result was their creation of the earliest breakfast cereals.

For the rest of the 19th century the Seventh Day Adventists consumed their breakfast cereals made from oats, corn, wheat and sorghum. They never really attempted to fully commercialize their recipes for these cereals.

Their original health institute became the famous Battle Creek Sanitarium. One of the doctors at the sanitarium was named W. K. Kellogg. Dr. Kellogg, a devoted follower of the Seventh Day Adventists, was keenly interested in healthy diet and the effect of diet on sick patients. While seeking a foodstuff to replace bread in the diet of his patients, he stumbled into an answer that created an iconic American industry.

Dr. Kellog was boiling a pot of water that contained wheat. His attention became diverted and the wheat overcooked, thus softening. He removed the softened wheat and let it dry. When he returned later he found that the overcooked wheat had begun to turn brittle. He began to break apart the wheat and it broke off into little flakes. Amazingly, the wheat flakes had a most enticing taste. Dr. Kellogg had accidentally invented the process essential to mass-produce wheat cereals and corn flakes.

Today we know the Kellogg Company as one of America’s great brand names and purveyors of numerous popular breakfast cereals. The Kellogg Company was later followed by C. W. Post and General Mills in making the prepackaged breakfast cereal industry one that is uniquely American.

Dr. Kellogg spent the rest of his life seeking to create healthy products that would improve and extend life. However, the accidental discovery of the process necessary to produce dry cereals is his great legacy. Every day millions of people all over the world start their day with a tasty, nutritious bowl of cereal that owes its provenance to an overcooked pot of wheat.

Many great inventions and product improvements owe their existence to accidents, mistakes that open new doors and plain dumb luck. The key to commercially profiting from these errors is to always keep an open mind in the face of the unexpected. Dr. Kellogg was looking for a new type of bread. His mistake in overcooking a pot of wheat has contributed to making his name one of the most famous in the world.

Total imports fell by 50,3% on 2008, for a value of 240 million.

This brings the Italian companies to seek to be cutting edge in production techniques and marketing strategies. Not by chance now also the e-commerce sector is strongly developing, which promises to be another good channel for sale.

How To Bypass The Enemies To your success

Know Your SOURCE! (2)

An encounter that will last you a life time! That was what I promised you will get in this instalment of my series on 3 Simple Steps System That Pumps money Into Your Bank Account Like An Invisible Paymaster published here last week.

What a bold promise that was!

But be rest assured that I will deliver. I know I will because I can do all things through Jesus Christ who strengthens me and gives me the grace to keep my promises.

Okay, let’s get started. Would you feel offended if I told you you didn’t know the way to the house you live in? I mean, you’ve just returned to the same house from wherever it was you went to, and here I was saying that you didn’t know the way to the house. Wouldn’t you think I was crazy or something?

You would? Great!

Now, suppose you describe the way to the same house to a friend, showing him landmarks and other objects that will make it easy for him to locate the house, and your friend still fails to find the house, would that change the fact the house is where you live and that the way you described for him leads to the house?

The answer, obviously, is “No!” Right?

Fine. Now that I was able to get you to agree with me on both points, then let me tell you an amazing story. This event took place in 1974. Prior to the time it happened, I was flat broke. The reason I was broke will not surprise you. I was engaged in a hopeless venture. I was betting on pools, with the hope of making more money than the Nigerian Army was paying me at the time.

Long story short, I didn’t make any money from the pools. Instead I got deeper and deeper into debts. It got so bad that the only way I could feed my family within three days of receiving my pay was to borrow money or beg the women selling provisions in the barracks to sell to me on credit.

This was the case until one Friday in April of that year when I decided, for once, not to sneak out to the pools betting shop during the hour the authorities devoted for worshipping GOD. Rather, I found my way to a place of worship.

And it happened. The minister of GOD made an altar call. I stepped forward. I received Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour. And things began to happen. Instead of studying the pools, I started to study the Bible.

Then I found Mathew Chapter Six. When I got to the 24th verse and started to read from there all the way to the end, what the Author of the Book was saying to me was pure music to my ears.

“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink….” When I got to this place, I had to pause. Did He just say I shouldn’t worry about what I would eat? I had to read that sentence again and again to be sure I read it correctly.

“Oh well,” I said. “That’s what I do everyday, worrying about nothing else but what me and my family would eat. So are You going to provide it? And if You say ‘Yes,’ how would it happen?”

As I continued reading, I found the answer in verses 31-33: “Therefore do not worry, saying ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink? or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all things. But seek first the kingdom of GOD and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”

“Wonderful!” I exclaimed. “Here at last is the answer to the question that had been tormenting me.”

But it took me time before the promise could be delivered to me. No, the delay was not from the One who promised it. It was me that was getting in His way. I was too anxious. And I hadn’t learnt to heed one of His instructions that says I should be anxious for nothing.

So I was anxious. And when you’re anxious, your faith is not in place. But gradually I learnt to trust Him. I learnt to believe that whatever He says, He will deliver. He’s not a man that He would lie.

It’s more than 35 years now. And in all the years between 1974 and now, I have never gone to bed one night and had reason to worry or even think about what me and family would eat the next day. The Author of the Bible, who made that promise that I believed, has never failed to fulfill His promise even once.

The Author of the Bible, the one I encountered in 1974, the Living WORD, is the SOURCE of everything that is. This is how Colossians 1:16 – 17 reveals Him: “For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consists.”

And the Gospel according to John confirms it. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.” [John 1:1-5].

Yes, that is your SOURCE! If you have an encounter with Him today, I guarantee it will last you a lifetime.

Just think about it: 1974-2009. And counting still. And He has not failed me. Even when I went astray, He was still faithful, patiently waiting for me to come to my senses like the Prodigal Son.

And guess what? He is not a respecter of persons. Whatever He did for one person He will do for another, provided that person did the same thing the other person did to provoke His favour [Acts of Apostles chapter 10 verse 34].

Are you already doubting my story; that He was not responsible for my testimony; that what I’ve just shared with you is not true?

That is because you don’t know GOD as much as you thought you knew Him. Anyone who truly knows Him, who has had genuiine encounter with Him, will not doubt my story. And even if you persist  in doubting my story, that does not change the fact that I know for a truth that what I’ve just shared is the truth and nothing but the truth.

It’s like me disputing the fact that you know the way to the house you’re living in. Come on now!

I have a love for business and nothing made me happier than when I decided to start an online marketing business from home.  It is not really a difficult task and I have turned a passion of mine into a money generating machine that only requires my attention for 3 to 4 hours a day.

Online marketers, also known as affiliates, are business people how play the middle man linking consumers to vendors by various means.  Some marketing techniques require a little investment, but not all of them.  That is what makes online marketing so great.  Anyone can do it as long as you are committed to putting in a little time everyday.

I started my journey 2 years ago.  I worked full time for a telecommunication giant, and was getting tired of being passed over for promotion.  On top of the everyday grind, I also was attending school driving up my student loans to $60,000.  With a wife and 5 children at home, we were living paycheck to paycheck and my student loan payments were going to be starting up soon.  So my main goal was to find something that I could do part-time just to pay the student loan debt that I had accumulated.

After doing research for easy online start-up business, I decided to start an online marketing business.  I started off advertising a few digital products just to get my feet wet in the online marketing.  It did take a little time before I started to understand what I was doing right and what I was doing wrong.  With a little trial and error, I was able to develop my own system on the advertising techniques that worked for me.

One year after beginning, I was still working for my full-time employer.  But the great thing was that I was also pulling just a little more than half of my current full time salary on top of my full-time job.

And now here I am, 2 years after starting and I am now making 125% of what I would have been making if I was still working for my old employer.  My student loan is almost paid off and I have been able to spend so much more time with my wife and kids over the past 6 months.  Life can not get any better than when I decided to start an online marketing business from home.

Well first, I believe internet marketing combined with mlm is an incredible and very powerful system that is only limited by ones imagination.

I will go to a pinging service and ping my blog when I update with new content, I will also submit the RSS feed to the feed directories. I know this sounds confusing, but it isn’t, If I can do it, so can YOU!

Now you need to offer something of value and start grabbing people’s names and email addresses.

Once you have your blog set up, you need to add content regularly, ideally every day. Now you can write your own content or use OPC (other peoples content). If you use other peoples mlm articles you need to credit the author by adding their bio box including the link to their website.

The term strategic window is the limited periods during which the “fit” between the key requirements of a market and the particular competencies of a firm competing in that market is at an optimum. In this paper we will use VXL Instrument’s case to elaborate the concept.
What is VXL’s Business?

VXL Instruments is enabling companies around the world build a flexible, secure, manageable and cost-efficient IT infrastructure. Its range of thin client devices helps enterprises beat the cycle of desktop obsolescence, free internal resources from non-productive functions, and save millions of dollars that is spent in securing systems. The thin client is a server-centric computing model in which the application software, data, and CPU power resides on a network server rather than on the client computer.VXL Instruments won “Highest IT-Hardware Exporter Award in Non-SSI category” for year 2006-2007.
VXL’s Dilemma

VXL Instruments is leading manufacturer of thin client devices and commands 11% share in global market. Its major chunk of sales comes from export to US and EU. The company is trying to explore new market in India for its thin client devices. Competitors like Wyse and HP offer diverse range of product not only in west but also in India. Therefore, it’s high time that company starts thinking about Indian market.
How to market TC in India?

Company’s products like TC23xx and TC73xx are reliable and cost-effective. The (thin client) TC can help in eradicating various pain in server based computing. It is very useful in case of SME’s (Small and medium scale enterprises) where computing requirements are pretty specific. In case of sectors like hospitality, we need to explore various value unlocking features so that they can charge a premium. The major challenges are following:

1. How to provide maximum utility without making product too much complex?

2. How to convince existing clients to change from fat clients to thin clients?

3. How to market TC in India?

Actually the answer of third question will give us a frame work for finding the answers for first two questions.

I will consider VXL a minimum risk taking company. It’s more product centric than customer centric. Therefore, its products are world class but market penetration is not that impressive. Presently, VXL markets its products through client interaction and third party distributors like Priya Limited. This approach reduces marketing expenses but the approach has its own limitations.

In 2005, Mumbai-based distributor Priya Ltd invested $2 million (around Rs 10 crore) in equity in VXL Instruments. The investment was part of the trade finance arrangement that gave VXL $9 million (around Rs 45 crore) aimed at funding its growth.

VXL chalked out expansion plans and a growth strategy with a view to increase its market share of thin client to 25 percent by 2007-2008. It has made inroad in different verticals like ERP, Health, Telecom, Education and Banking with client list including SAP Belgium, Birmingham City Hospital UK, DOT India, British Telecom, IIM Lucknow, IIT Roorkie, Haga Bank Jakarta and HDFC India etc. But presently its market share is much below its target.
Product Awareness & Customer Perception

We can roughly divide the customers into two categories:

* Techno Savvy Customers with financial Muscle: These type of customers, already know about the products (TC) and we need to convince them that thin client is a better option over Fat client. For example Velankani group’s upcoming 5-Star hotel in Electronic City, Bangalore. The Velankani’s are in IT and infrastructure and they are aware about technology and its implementation. According to Mr. R. Shiva Kumar (Manager Information System, Velankani), these types of customers should better be approached when the product is in its embryonic stage. Once they acquire fat clients (FC) for their project, they won’t be interested in TC due to switch over cost. Here we need to market TC as a device which will not only reduce the total cost of ownership but also provide simple solution for all comfort requirements.

* Less Techno Savvy with Medium Range Investment Capabilities: These types of customers don’t have their own IT department. They generally play safe and go for the fat client technology being used by other players in their segment. More over they consider their computing needs are minimal and don’t find IT investments much attractive. Here, we need to educate them about various advantage of server based computing and advantage of TC over FC. These types of firms should be approached for providing total solution.

Market Redefinition

Frequently, as markets evolve, the fundamental definition of the market changes in ways which increasingly disqualify some competitors while providing opportunity for the others. The trend towards marketing “system” of products as opposed to individual piece of equipments provides many examples of this phenomenon. We will discuss this point with the help of Docutel case.

Docutel: This manufacturer of automatic teller machine (ATM’s) supplied virtually all the ATM’s in US up to late 1974. In early 1975, Docutel found itself losing its market share to large computer companies such as Burroughs, Honeywell, and IBM as these manufacturers began to look at the banks’ total EFTS (Electronic Fund Transfer System) needs. They offered the bank a package of equipment representing a complete system of which the ATM was only a component. In essence their success can be attributed to the fact that they redefined the market in a way that increasingly appeared to disqualify Docutel as a potential supplier.
Conclusion

Market redefinition is not only limited to the banking industry; similar trends are underway in scientific instrumentation (Steel, Cement, and Aluminium Industries), process control equipments (Siemens, Vesuvius and SMS redefined the market); the machine tool industry, office & household equipment (VXL is already a player) and electronic control gear as some of the other examples. In each case, manufacturers basing their approach on the marketing of individual hardware items are seeing their “strategic window” closing as computer systems producers move in to take advantage of emerging opportunities. How do you control time? What does time mean to you? Well according to the Webster’s Dictionary time is, “A continuum which lacks spatial dimensions and in which events succeed one another from past through present to future”. If you work for someone else your time is determined by them and you have to work around their schedule.

Reason #2 “Leveraging my Time”

I use to hold a high position working for a large Corporation that supplies poultry, beef, pork world wide. I had worked hard just like everyone else and climb that corporate ladder, wanting to be one of the big boys. I would do exactly as told. Like going to work at a certain time and staying over if needed at the last minute’s request. Just like most of the leaders in this business we incorporated the belief’s of the company and did what ever it took to get to the top. Even if it meant losing time away from home with family and friends or planning special events around their work schedule.

Internet Marketing allows me to leverage my time and use my 24 hours in a day the way I want to. I determine when I clock in or out, not someone else. We all share the same 24 hours in a day and I have chosen to use mine wisely. 1 Cor. 7:31 say; “they that use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passeth away.” I want to make sure that I leave a legacy for my children, grand-children, and great grand-children.

I don’t have to miss any more special events with my kids. I am able to take my son to his golf lessons, and enjoy playing a round of golf, without being pressured for time. Now I can live a life of good health and working on my body, soul, and spirit. Waking up in the morning to exercise, sitting down and reading a good book or studying with my kids, and going to church and fellow shipping with positive influences. You become who you hang around with and I choose to mastermind with the best entrepreneurs.

Why do I enjoy Internet Marketing? We are meant to be and do something bigger in life than to live at someone else’s expense. Building my business has brought us so much joy and happiness and that’s something money can not buy back. Become a servant and a leader to your family and community. It is better to give than to receive. Last but not least: Choose to not trade your time for money.
